The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association (CGSA) and the Western Canada Turfgrass Association (WCTA) are pleased to announce that they will partner in the presentation of the 2011 Canadian International Turfgrass Conference and Trade Show.  The 2011 event will be held in Vancouver from March 4th to 8th.  The newly renovated East Building of the Vancouver Convention Centre will host both the conference and the trade show components of the event.

This will be the 10th jointly sponsored event held by the CGSA in 12 years and the 3rd such event involving the WCTA.  The agreement between the two associations provides for the conference to be jointly planned and for the two organizations to share the net proceeds.  Under the terms of the agreement, the WCTA agrees not to hold a competing conference and trade show in 2011.

"This agreement ensures that both our members and those from the WCTA will benefit from an exceptional education program as well as having access to the largest golf course management trade show in Canada," said CGSA President Patrick Moir, in announcing the agreement.

Dena Gent, President of the WCTA, indicated in acknowledging the agreement, "That the WCTA will benefit from the strong sports turf, golf and equipment management education program that will be available to our members while also having the excitement of the national trade show happening at a local venue."

The joint conference will be coordinated by a Conference Coordinating Committee made up of representatives from both associations.  This committee will be appointed in March 2010 or earlier and details of the event will be announced in August of that year.  The event is expected to draw approximately 2,000 participants from Canada, the USA, Great Britain, Scandinavia and Europe and will include over 100 exhibitors and over 50,000 square feet of exhibit space.

The Canadian Golf Superintendents Association represents over 1,500 individuals involved in golf course management from across Canada.  Its mission is to ensure excellence in golf course management and environmental responsibility through the continued professional development of its members.

The Western Canada Turfgrass Association has over 850 members who are interested in further education, turfgrass research and the exchange of information related to turfgrass management. The members represent a diversity of interest such as golf courses, school boards, municipalities, sod farms, nurseries, landscapers, lawn bowling greens, and the trade which supplies the industry.  The organization is actively involved in the promotion and support of research, education and discussion in turfgrass management.
